Paediatric Courses:

L3 Emergency Paediatric First Aid  (6 hrs – £58 pp)

This one day course in Emergency Paediatric First Aid, has been designed for those who have an interest in child and infant basic life support.

If you have a professional interest, i.e. you are a child-minder or school teacher, etc, then this course partly fulfils the requirements of Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Ofsted and the Early Years Foundation Stage require you to have 12 hours of paediatric first aid training, so the 2-Day Level 3 Award in Paediatric First Aid would be required to fulfil their requirements. This 6 hour qualification also makes up the first half of the 12-hour course.

  • Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
  • Choking
  • Minor injuries
  • Assessment of the situation
  • Epilepsy
  • Wounds and bleeding

Certification – A 3 year certificate will be issued subject to assessment.

L3 Paediatric First Aid Units 1 & 2  (12 hrs – £90 pp)ofsted-approved

This two day course has been developed for those who are working with children and infants. It will be of particular interest to teachers, child minders, crèche assistants, playgroup personnel and those who have a responsibility for their welfare. It is ideal for individuals who are responsible for children and infants, who wish to gain a nationally accredited Level 3 Award.

The course satisfies the guidelines and criteria as laid down by the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and Ofsted. In order to obtain this qualification, you must attend both days and complete the two units of accreditation.

First Aid Courses for the Work Place:

L3 First Aid at Work  (3 days – £215 pp)

It is a requirement of the Health & Safety law that employers provide a safe and healthy environment to work in. If your assessment of first aid needs highlights the need for qualified first aiders, then this level 3 qualification (level 6 in Scotland) will provide you with suitable, highly trained personnel.

This comprehensive three-day course covers a wide range of first aid emergencies, enabling all participants to deal with emergency situations with confidence in a prompt, safe and effective way. In addition, this course will include any protocol changes that may have arisen since their last training course.

This course will give the participants a qualification to the highest level of First Aid, meeting the statutory requirements of the Health and Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.

  • Eye injuries
  • Fractures and spinal injuries
  • Choking

Certification – A 3 year certificate will be issued subject to assessment. To renew the qualification you will need to attend the FAW Re-Qual course, (see below) however it is recommended that during the 3 year period you also attend annual refresher courses.

Price – £215 per person (min 6 learners)  Extra places charged at £195 pp.  (Max 12 learners)

L3 First Aid at Work Requalification  (2 days – £175 pp)

This 2 day First Aid at Work course is designed for those who currently hold a First Aid at Work qualification which is due to expire.

Please consider the following rules for attendance:

  • A First Aider can renew their First Aid at Work qualification by attending a 2-day requalification course provided it is within 1 month of the expiry date on their certificate.
  • If the First Aider has lapsed by more than 1 month, but no longer than 3 months, then the First Aider can requalify by attending a 2-day course providing ‘Special considerations’ have been applied

Special considerations are:

  • A signed letter from the employer to the provider of the training stating the reasons why in their opinion, the First Aider is suitably experienced to attend a 2-day course and does not require a full 3-day FAW course
    OR …
  • A decision is made by the provider of the training after discussions with the employer, or the First Aider, and deciding that their previous experience is sufficient to attend a 2-day course
  • If the First Aider has lapsed beyond 3 months then they must attend a full 3-day First Aid at Work course

L2 Emergency First Aid at Work (6 hrs – £79 pp)

Where an organisation’s risk assessment of First Aid needs identifies that there is a requirement for Emergency First Aid at Work practitioners, then this national Award in Emergency First Aid at Work satisfies the requirements of the regulatory body for First Aid – the Health and Safety Executive (HSE).

All participants will have the skills and knowledge to provide the organisation with Emergency First Aiders that can provide treatment to their casualties in a prompt, safe and effective manner.
